Simple Guidance
The aim is clear, calm support without pressure, judgement, or noise.
Private Use
Mosaic is designed as a personal support space that you use in your own way.
Mosaic is not a medical, counselling, emergency, or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 112 or 999.
Relapse Prevention
Relapse prevention is about noticing warning signs early and taking action before a craving, trigger, or risky situation becomes harder to manage.
- Pause before acting on a craving.
- Name the trigger: person, place, feeling, memory, stress, or pressure.
- Move away from risky situations where possible.
- Contact someone before the thought becomes a plan.
- Use meetings, peer support, or professional support when needed.
Mental Health Support
Recovery can be affected by anxiety, low mood, stress, loneliness, pressure, trauma, or feeling overwhelmed. This section is for moments when mental health is under strain.
- Talk to someone safe instead of carrying it alone.
- Contact a GP, counsellor, or mental health support service.
- Use grounding, breathing, or quiet time to settle the body and mind.
- If there is immediate danger, call 112 or 999.
Practical Help
Practical problems can put pressure on recovery. Money, housing, appointments, transport, college, work, food, forms, or services can all become harder to manage when someone is struggling.
- Write down the problem clearly.
- Pick the first practical step instead of trying to fix everything at once.
- Contact the correct service, person, or support organisation.
- Ask someone trusted to help with a call, form, email, or appointment.
Family & Friends
Family members, partners, and friends often want to help but may not know what to say or do. This section is for people close to someone in recovery.
- Listen without attacking or shaming.
- Encourage support, meetings, medical advice, or counselling where needed.
- Avoid serious arguments during high-stress or intoxicated moments.
- Look after your own safety and wellbeing too.
- Get support for yourself if someone else’s drinking is affecting you.
Safety Plan
A safety plan is for moments when things feel risky, unsafe, or out of control. It helps the person slow down, move away from danger, and contact support quickly.
- Name the warning signs.
- Move to a safer place if possible.
- Contact a trusted person.
- Avoid alcohol, drugs, risky places, and being alone if feeling unsafe.
- Use emergency services if there is immediate danger.
